Third generation in Southwest Michigan real estate

I grew up in Plainwell. My grandfather sold real estate here, and so did a couple of his siblings. It runs deep enough that I was working in it at eighteen — foreclosures and rentals, for my dad's cousin.

I went a different direction first. Strategic sourcing and global commodity management in corporate America, and a photo and video business on the side — 18th Hour Productions, which I've run since 2015. When the FAA opened Part 107 testing on August 29, 2016, I sat the exam that day and passed it. The photography is what pulled me back: I was shooting homes for other agents long before I was selling them. I got my own license in 2018, and I still shoot every one of my listings myself.

I remember when the stretch of M-89 between Plainwell and Otsego was the Chicken Koop and a gas station. There's a Meijer on it now, a Walmart, a Home Depot, a movie theater and about a dozen fast food franchises. I've watched that road explode in real time, which is a different thing from reading about it.

I'm based in Plainwell and work across West Michigan — Kalamazoo, Portage, Otsego, Allegan, Battle Creek and the lakes, and up toward Grand Rapids when a client is moving that way. You'll usually hear back from me the same day.

And I'll tell you to talk to other agents. Pick whoever communicates the way you want to be communicated with, has a process you actually understand, and who you're comfortable asking questions. I'd rather you chose me on purpose.
